Administration
Director
of Development
MVCS
is seeking a Director of Development to lead the organization
into its next phase of development and growth. The successful
candidate will have the opportunity to "make a difference"
in a very worthy mission.
The
ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 to 10 years experience
in development, fundraising, and special events management and
must be a tenacious, effective, and inspiring leader with demonstrated
success in securing major gifts, coordinating an Annual Giving
program, supervising staff, overseeing special events, and recruiting
and motivating volunteers. S/he will need a professional toolbox
filled with superb communications skills, an impeccable attention
to detail, a strategic vision, and a sense of humor.
The
Director will serve as the chief fundraising and community relations
strategist for the agency, working closely with the Executive
Director and the Development Committee in developing and implementing
development and marketing plans. S/he will lead the Development
staff, and serve as a member of the MVCS Management team.
Key
Responsibilities:
-
To
direct fundraising efforts in partnership with the Executive
Director and the Development Committee of the Board of Directors.
-
To
build, coach, and motivate a competent and energetic development
staff.
-
To
provide leadership and support for Committee and participants
in the agency's special event fundraiser, the Possible Dreams
Auction (www.possibledreamsauction.org).
-
To
establish and manage a vibrant outreach program including
public and media relations that tells the agency's story to
the public
-
To
establish and implement a financial development plan to support
the agency's strategic initiatives.
Desired
Skills, Experience and Characteristics:
-
Eight
to ten years of progressively responsible experience.
-
Strong
track record with annual giving campaigns, major gifts, endowment
development, and special events.
-
Confidence
in speaking to groups and in working with high net worth individuals.
-
Effective
relationship building skills.
-
Demonstrated
success in recruiting, organizing, training, and supporting
volunteers and staff to raise funds; recognized success in
team building.
-
Experience
with and understanding of public and media relations programs.
-
Successful
experience in securing financial support with a working knowledge
of charitable gift vehicles.
-
The
experience and skill required to prepare and manage a budget
as well as the management of a three-person department and
the Thrift Shop staff.
-
Excellent
oral and written communication skills.
-
The
ability to organize and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
-
Proficiency
with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Blackbaud
products.
-
Experience
and proficiency in website maintenance.
