eligibility is determined, the following pre-employment services are provided:
Support in understanding the impact of employment on
Social Security payments;
Vocational Evaluation;
Employment person-centered
planning;
Skills Assessment;
Abilities Assessment;
Employment Options
based on skills and abilities.
When
the pre-employment services are completed, job development activities will begin:
Custom search based on consumer choice;
Interview
assistance;
Application assistance.
When
employment is obtained, the following employment transition services begin, including:
Customized job supports;
On-the-job training;
A plan for graduated expectations;
Off-site employment-related counseling;
Assistance with communication skills;
Long-term employment plan.
External
Supports are also provided:
Assistance
with transportation;
Assistance in obtaining counseling services as necessary;
Assistance with medical insurance issues;
Support in reporting work activity
to Social Security.
Services for Employers:
Island
Employers are supported through the following services provided by Island Employment
Services:
The placement and support of qualified job applicants:
Island workers for Island jobs;
Low turnover with long-term commitment;
Job site training and support provided
by IES;
Assignment of a transition coordinator to insure 100% satisfaction
from the first day of hire;
Assistance with job site evaluations.
Employment
Training:
On or
off site training provided;
Assistance with specialized communication techniques;
Co-worker in-service trainings;
Assistance with the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
Employee
Training:
On-site training;
One-on-one
job task training;
A plan for graduated expectations;
Support for efficiency,
social skills, interpersonal relations, and work ethic.
On-going
supports:
Retraining as required;
Employment-related counseling;
Facilitation of communication;
Transportation
coordination.
