Press Release on the Planned Closing of the Visiting Nurse Service


VISITING NURSE SERVICE/ADULT HEALTH PROMOTION
MONTHLY FREE CLINICS

Sponsored by the town Boards of Health of Chilmark, Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, and West Tisbury, the clinics include blood pressure checks and disease prevention education. The clinics are free.
  • Chilmark
    at Town Hall on the First Thursday from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

    Edgartown

    at Stop & Shop on the First Tuesday from 12-2:00 p.m.

    Edgartown
    at Town Hall on the Second Wednesday from 9-11:00 a.m.

    Edgartown
    at The Anchors on the Second Friday* 8:30-9:30 a.m.

    Oak Bluffs
    at Aidylberg on Third Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Oak Bluffs
    at Council on Aging on the Fourth Thursday from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.

    Oak Bluffs
    at Woodside I on the last Monday from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

    Oak Bluffs
    at Woodside II on the last Monday from 1:15 - 2:15 p.m.

    West Tisbury
    at Up-Island Council on Aging (Howes House) on the Second Tuesday

    The Town Nurse Clinics can help guide you through the health care maze; Answer your health care questions; provide health education counseling; Conduct a physical assessment as needed; and Assist you in finding appropriate health care resources. The clinics are sponsored by the Town Boards of Health.

    at Town Hall on the Third Wednesday of the Month from 2 - 4 p.m.

    Edgartown

    at Town Hall on the Fourth Wednesday of the Month from 9 - Noon


    Oak Bluffs
    at Council on Aging on the First Wednesday of the Month from 1 - 3 p.m.
  • Tisbury
    at Council on Aging on the Second Thursday of the Month from 9 - 11 a.m.
  • West Tisbury
    at Howe's House on the Fourth Wednesday of the Month from 1 - 2:20 p.m.
  • Parkinson's Disease Support Group meets at the Howe's House, West Tisbury (across from Alley's General Store) on the 2nd Monday of the month from 10:15 - 11:30 a.m. for open discussion. There is no fee.
  • Prostate Cancer Support Group meets at the MVCS Administration Building (across from the high school) on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. for open discussion. There is no fee.
  • By virtue of the wide array of services provided, the VNS touches a broad spectrum of Island residents.  Recently, the figure has exceeded 2,000 resident annually, or roughly one in six Islanders.
