Head Start is a national program committed to giving every child the opportunity to succeed in school and life beyond school. Our program is home-based and locally designed for the community we serve. Our home-based model is structured to capitalize on the learning opportunities in the home environment.

During weekly home visits, Home Visitors help parents to identify opportunities to support their child’s learning during ordinary experiences that happen each day, such as preparing a meal, walking to the store, or taking a bath. Home Visitors and parents also work together to identify family goals and identify the supports needed to achieve them.

Our program focuses on:

  • Education
  • Health
  • Nutrition
  • Social Services

Head Start provides:

  • Weekly home visits with an individualized curriculum
  • Parent/child activities around the Island
  • Parent education groups
  • Parent involvement and leadership opportunities
  • Health and developmental screenings
  • Family activities
  • Kindergarten transition supports

“Thank you so much for all the support and attention and respect you always provide to me and all families in the community. As an immigrant, I would like to let you know we feel very welcomed by the Head Start program… I feel you work so hard to understand our needs and our culture. Thank you for helping us feel a part of the American community. We feel so embraced and beloved. Thank you forever Head Start! You will always be in our hearts.” – Parent
