The mission of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services’ Daybreak Clubhouse is to promote recovery, full community integration and improved quality of life for persons who have been diagnosed with any mental health condition that seriously impairs their ability to lead meaningful lives.
Daybreak services are collaborative, person-directed and individualized. Daybreak focuses on helping individuals develop skills and access to resources needed to live successfully in our community.
Daybreak assists program participants in efforts to move out of the patient role and move towards illness self-management and active participation in their recovery.
Daybreak is committed to offering quality rehabilitation services and support to individuals recovering from psychiatric disabilities.
Daybreak offers linkage to community resources, employment and educational opportunities, health and wellness, housing and benefit supports as well as social activities and outreach.
Daybreak Clubhouse is a therapeutic community comprised of both people who are recovering from psychiatric disabilities and generalist staff who work within the program. Work, both within the clubhouse, and as paid employment in the community, is the focus of Daybreak Clubhouse.
Consumers who are part of the program are called members and the rights of membership are balanced by member responsibilities.
Members are expected to develop goal plans to frame the work needed to achieve maximum community integration and actively work with staff and members to achieve these goals.
Members are expected to assist in operating Daybreak by taking on essential tasks through participation in the work-ordered day and afternoon programming, thus reversing the typical provider-recipient role in the mental health services.
Daybreak Clubhouse sends a clear message to members that they are capable competent, wanted and needed.
Daybreak Clubhouse is located at 457B State Road, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568.
