The Rotary Club of Martha’s Vineyard and Martha’s Vineyard Community Services (MVCS) invite golfers to participate in the 1st annual Vineyard Charity Golf Classic, to be held on Monday, September 28 at the Vineyard Golf Club.
Registration that day begins at 7:00 a.m. and teams will tee-off at 9a.m. The early bird entry fee of $200 per golfer expires September 1st. After September 1st, the entry fee will be $250 per golfer. The entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, breakfast and lunch prepared by the Vineyard Golf Club, contests with prizes, and goodie bag giveaways. Registration and Sponsorship opportunities for the tournament are available at www.mvcommunityservices.com/vcgc.
The tournament features a 2016 Toyota Highlander car from Falmouth Toyota as the Hole-in-One contest prize and a Boston sports themed raffle package. Other unique prizes will be given for Longest Drive, Putting Contest, and Closest to the Pin contests.
Proceeds from the Vineyard Charity Golf Classic will benefit MVCS and a variety of non-profits on Martha’s Vineyard supported by the Rotary. The tournament, hosted by the Rotary for ten years, has raised more than $100,000 for Island charities and scholarships for youth.
The tournament will help MVCS fund its wide range of programs that serve more than 6,000 residents each year. Programs include early children programs, assistance for the disabled, counseling for mental health and addiction recovery, assistance for victims of domestic violence, and the Island Wide Youth Collaborative, in which MVCS and other organizations provide a continuum of mental health and addiction treatment for adolescents. MVCS also operates the Thrift Shop in Vineyard Haven.
The Island’s Rotary Club is comprised of 60 men and women who volunteer and raise money for charities through the golf tournament, a pancake breakfast, an antique show and the “great lobster raffle.” The international Rotary organization has more than 1.2 million members in 35,000 clubs around the world.
